Screen Door Installation - Easy Installation Steps

Screen Door Installation - Step One

Determine the size of your existing opening

Measure the width and height of your existing opening (inside the door) to determine if you have chosen the correct door size. Allow 1/8" on each side and up to 1/2" for the height. Your door can be trimmed up to 3/8" from each side and 3/8" from the top and no more than 1" from the bottom. If you will need to trim your door then go to Step 3.

Hardware Options

Most standard screen door hardware will work great on your new solid vinyl screen door. Your door can be cut and drilled just like a wood screen door. Surface mounted hinges can be screwed into the frame of the door. Most hinges can be accommodated by simply routing or mounting with screws. Latches and bar bolts for security can easily be screwed to the door frame. Always use 3 hinges to secure your new screen door to the frame.

Trimming your new screen door

If you have ever trimmed a wood screen door then you will have no trouble doing the same to your new Screen TightTM Screen Door. Traditional tools, such as a circular saw, will do the job. Simply determine the desired amount to trim (make sure not to trim more than 3/8" from any side and no more than 1" from the bottom). CAUTION, if you cut more than the specified amounts you will compromise the integrity of the door and void any warranty.

Thank you for considering our new solid vinyl screen door. We appreicate your confidence in Screen Tight and our products.

Screen doors have always been a part of the American home. After noticing that the materials used to make screen doors have remained unchanged or improved, we decided to pursue manufacturing a new generation of screen doors.

Our customers told us that they liked the classic look and utility of a screen door but not the maintenance chores often associated with typical screen doors. Years of research and development led us to the introduction of our solid vinyl screen door. The result is a screen door with the charm and character of yesterdays' doors combined with the durable, low maintenance features of vinyl.

Good luck with your installation and thanks from everyone at Screen Tight.
